Possibilities for the Glossa/Skopelos Library
Will the Glossa Library now move towards becoming a public library with support from the National Ministries of Education and Culture and the European Union?
Will Glossa High School students and teachers integrate work on the library into their curricula, and use the library as an extension of their classrooms?
Will the current collection be expanded to include nooks, kindles, and high bandwidth computers?.
Will the boxes of books donated by friends at the University of Athens and children's books that have been offered by the Head Librarian at E.K.E.B.I., the National Book Center which represents the publishers of Greece, be delivered to the library?
Are there individuals and groups in Glossa interested in finding and funding a larger building for the library, with space for an expanded collection of books and materials and rooms for computers, meetings, study groups, and homework, as well as a children's playground.
Independent public libraries in Greece are the right of every person and the promise of a brighter future for our children and grandchildren. As the public library system grows in Greece, there is a greater possibility of a true Greek Renaissance. Such libraries represent the best of Western democracy and freedom of access to information.
